The Best Place to Hike the Great Wall of China

Greatwall hiking

1. Jiankou-Mutianyu Great Wall Hiking: The duration of this tour is 12 Hours. Price starts from $50 per person if there are 10 or more persons. For solo, it’s $220. The trip starts at 8:00, after about 2 hours driving, arrive at Xishanzi village in Huairou. Hiking for about 1 hour, arrival at the Due North Tower of Jiankou Great Wall. While climbing the tower, towards the west is the breathtaking view of the Jiankou section. After 40 minutes, arrival at the Niujijiaobian. This area of the Great Wall is steep and perilous. Redirection of this segment and backpedaling on the Great Wall following 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, arrival at Mutianyu No.23 Tower, before which we see the redesigned Great Wall. In the end, set off to the parking areas, lunch in the nearby restaurant. Hiking time is around 4-5 hours.

2. Jinshanling – Simatai Great Wall Hiking: The duration is of 12 Hours. Price starts from $65 per person if there are 10 or more persons. For solo, it’s $220. The trip starts at 8:00, after about 2.5 hours driving, arrival at Jinshanling Great Wall. Hike of 20 minutes, to the Zhuanduokou City Gate Tower. After 2.5 to 3 hours hiking, reach the East 5-hole Guard Tower, then leave the Great Wall. In the end, a departure from the Great Wall towards a farmer’s restaurant. Hiking time is about 3.5-4.5 hours.

3. Gubeikou-Jinshanling-Simatai Great Wall: The duration is of 2 Days. Price starts from $205 per person if there are 10 or more persons. For solo, it’s $470.

Day 1 Beijing-Gubeikou-Jinshanling
Hiking Time: 5hrs
Drive towards the Gubeikou area of the Great Wall. The climb will take us to a military zone along the Wall, which we should sidestep through a charming preoccupation through a benevolent town; then hike to the Jinshanling Great Wall, where there is an overnight stay.
